Community Serve Day

Hundreds of us, dozens of projects, one morning loving Maplewood in practical ways.

About The Day

Love with work gloves on

Twice a year we cancel the 10:30 service, pull on matching shirts, and scatter across Maplewood. Serve Day teams stock the food pantry, repaint classrooms at Roosevelt Elementary, clean up Miller Park, visit seniors, and wash cars for single moms — all before lunch.

No experience needed and every age has a role: kids pack hygiene kits, teens lead park crews, and anyone with a truck becomes instantly popular. We rally at 9:00 AM in the church parking lot for coffee, assignments, and prayer — then go.

This June's serve teams

Food Pantry Restock

Sort, shelve, and pack weekend food bags with the Maplewood Food Bank crew.

Miller Park Cleanup

Mulch, paint, and playground repairs alongside the parks department. Great for kids.

School Makeover

Repaint classrooms and build bookshelves at Roosevelt Elementary before fall.

Senior Visits

Deliver flowers, share coffee, and spend unhurried time with residents at Oak Grove.

Good To Know

Serve Day questions

Yes — kids 5 and up serve alongside a parent on the park, pantry, and senior-visit teams. Childcare for under-5s runs at the church from 9 to 12:30.
More than half our projects need smiles, not skills — packing bags, delivering flowers, holding ladders, and handing out water. Every team has a trained leader.
We serve rain or shine — outdoor teams shift to indoor projects (pantry, school interiors, card-writing for care homes) and the rally moves into the lobby.
