EXODUS 16 · SERIES: FAITH IN THE OPEN
Tables in the Wilderness

Enough, one day at a time
Six weeks out of Egypt, Israel is hungry, afraid, and already romanticizing slavery. God's answer isn't a lecture — it's breakfast. Manna falls every morning with one strange rule: gather only today's portion. Hoard it, and it rots. Trust it, and there's always enough.
Centuries later Jesus will teach us to pray "give us today our daily bread," and it's the same lesson: anxiety stockpiles, faith gathers daily. This message is for everyone rehearsing worst cases at 2 AM — God still sets a table in the wilderness, one morning at a time.
1
Daily bread builds daily trust
God could have delivered a warehouse; he chose a rhythm. Dependence isn't a flaw in the design — it is the design.
2
Grumbling looks backward; gratitude looks up
Israel compared the desert to an Egypt that never existed. Naming today's provision starves nostalgia of its power.
3
Sabbath rest is part of the portion
God doubled Friday's manna so Israel could rest. Provision was never just about food — it was about learning to stop.
